25.10.2022Shores of Gold…where have I heard that in my Sea of Thieves pirating career?
Slakjaw Notsayin
24.10.2022Valheim is 3rd person, which is the best way to do melee combat. This game is 1st person, so it already loses 1 star right off the bat!
This game does look neat though, but it's not "The Next Valheim"!

24.10.2022salt2 is than ALTAS and SEA of THIVEs and veiheim all together.

24.10.2022Sea of thieves did this?!?!

24.10.2022Valheim has been out for like 12 seconds, and there's already a NEW Velheim?
damaramu13
24.10.2022Legit comparison IMO.
I'm a day-1 fan of Valheim and it struck me as being a lot like Salt right away.
The feel of the exploration and adventure, sailing on the open ocean (even both start with a raft) are very similar especially with friends.
I backed the KS and am really hoping for co-op stretch goals.
Great interview and I appreciate the chapters/timestamps

24.10.2022Yo, Valheim has been out in early access for like 6 weeks, there's no "next" Valheim. Let it be its own thing.

24.10.2022The issue I have with Salt 2 was that I felt that the first slat development stopped at a point where the developers got either bored or stuck. It went from in development to done with a slight update and all the promise and ideas have just moved into an entirely new game. I enjoyed the premise of the first salt but don't see the point of supporting a game that I no longer think I could be assure will be delivered on. Time will tell and if they produce a solid game I may give it a go but I'm not betting on it.

24.10.2022Not even close to Valheim

21.10.2022just an idea for a prodigal story in the game you have a point by point storyline that generates with the world into locations, but you create many branches out that feed back into themself with old undiscovered ones you have progressed past and have not been discovered yet become inactive or disappear if they are close enough to the path you picked up.
so have 1 overall story arch that threads get generated randomly out in all directions waiting for the player to pick up and a bunch of supplementary threads off and around it that feed into it. once the player picks up on a thread any other main story or the same supplementary story they picked up in the area vanish and won't be discovered allowing it to feel "rare" and as a discovery, they are on to but with ensuring one or more of these threads would be picked up.
you can also log on their individual journey location and generic NPCs that become "activated" when they hit plot point threads making a procedurally generated natural story that can make them feel value in backtracking on the journey and as though past seemingly minor interactions feel more meaningful.
you would use the same landmark hand made set pieces system you plan to use currently just have extra attribute flags as to what it could be in context, then you run a virtual voyage out linking points ensuring they are not too far apart, do this making almost a spider web of fractal possibility over the world in the unknown ahead of the player, and kill off no viable lines.
if done like this you could in theory have updated story threads or main lines added in at any point to an existing world with new things coming out of the unknown and old things needing a second look

21.10.2022At least make it co-op…
Ramses Martinez
21.10.2022Tell them to make it available through Geforce NOW and it will have a lot more sells!

21.10.2022Nah

21.10.2022Is it another incomplete survival game? I'm tired of paying for them
Rick Rouse
21.10.2022This game reminds me of Worlds Adrift which is a good thing IF you avoid their mistakes
WA was a majestic survival MMO sandbox hybrid game. It failed because lack of content which made the game pointless for many. The defense was you got to make your own purpose and adventure. There is a point there to be made but it only stretches so far. Some players made a career to be sky pirates to steal players… pants and I'm not kidding. The pant stealing was just a gimmick as pants were as useless as pirating itself. This is not enough for most players. The world has to deliver rewards for effort and those rewards must be useful or prideful.
Making your own adventure only works when the sandbox is full of meaningful cause and effects that impact the world and others. WA had no impact, why pirate if what you steal you can easily make yourself. PvP was just to kill players for laughs. No economy to speak of. Trading pointless, easier and faster to make your own stuff. You needed nothing from no one. Empty ruins to "explore". Exploring was really just a glorified walking simulator.
Salt 2 needs to capture the sense of exploration, adventure and progression. Players need to feel like their actions mater. Valheim does this.. until you reach the end game.

21.10.2022Have some balls and release in EA without the Kickstarter “no refund” bullshit.
lucifer_999
21.10.2022Why are people already doing " This could be the next Valheim!!" and "Is Valheim puny compared to this!?" Like come on, let us enjoy the game at least

21.10.2022i already see something i don't like no flintlocks and cannons

21.10.2022Too cartoon-ish for my liking…. not my style.

20.10.2022There needs to be challenges in all phases of the game. Storms at see require some seamanship while on the lookout for sea monsters keeps you alert. Valhiem didn’t sell 6 million copies by accident.
Do some market research and find out what people liked about it and build it into your game. Don’t let team egos about how “you” think the game should be blind you to what is important to your “customers”. You want to create “art” go slap some paint on a canvas. You want to make money, go create a product that meets the needs of people who can afford to buy your product at your optimum price point.

20.10.2022Every time I hear "Kickstarter" I think of Star Citizen and it's endless panhandling and Beta. So… Uhh… Meh? Maybe?

20.10.2022thats just minecraft with mods
Deadpixel
20.10.2022Honestly? Just looks like a scuffed Sea of Thieves. Giving this one a hard pass.
Mr Schmorgus
20.10.2022Not having multiplayer in an open world survival is not even slightly interesting for me.
Doesn't matter how good the game looks. If there's no multiplayer in that genre. You're kind of failing the genre.
nytmaster76
20.10.2022Base Building if your just building on boat and island hopping this game will get boring real quick. Whats different from Raft and Landless got enough sea explore type games . Salt 2 not for me PASS .. Valhiem is slowed down for me alot only thing left just building which gets boring too.
Mr Ballistic
20.10.2022They just jumping on the band wagon. Really. Valheim is way better and is the original. So like dark souls then came all the games that tried to follow but failed. Good luck boys.
MeeseeksDK
20.10.2022Looks like a sea of thieves ripoff

20.10.2022Valheim not really even out yet thooo?

19.10.2022This game looks like straight crap… I'd rather go play sea of thiefs …you even showing off this game was cringe
CMcc
19.10.2022When a developer has to piggyback another developers project to generate some sort of interest. Unless you're targeting ten year olds this is not going to work. Vast majority buy off the back of reviews these days.
Arthur Campedelli
19.10.2022pfft plzzzzz this game doesnt even compare
Gamur Wenus
19.10.2022Shoulda named it 2 salty
Grant H
19.10.2022I hope it's successful – the developers really do sound passionate about it.

19.10.2022Salt and Wild West & Wizards were very well done and lots of fun. I'm looking forward to Salt 2. $18k/$30k into the Kickstarter as of this post

19.10.2022Petition to have a Legendary Cutlass of the Coconut Isle in the game now!

19.10.2022Salt was the most primitive, amateurish, low budget game that I played forever. I was debating whether to get Wild West and Wizards on sale for $1.74 since the reviews were a bit bla, but then I saw that it was made by the guys that did Salt so that decided it for me even if it's bad. I hope it has that clunky yet oh so relaxing feel.

19.10.2022lawll!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! its not the next valheim

17.10.2022Next Valheim when it's not even a viking-game… monkaHMM

17.10.2022Salt 1 was never really finished and honestly quite dissapointing. I dont think ill be supporting this one, I have other sea based games to play

17.10.2022its going to be trash single player again…
Nicholas Bump
17.10.2022with no co-op mode this will never get close to valheim
Matt
17.10.2022This is sooo not close to Valheim in any way. I could go into a lot of detail but I'll just ask one question. Do axes chop trees?
