The Day Before actually is using unpaid volunteers to get it on the newest Unreal Engine. It was meant to come out July this year but got delayed due to the change to UE. That being said, they've never taken any money off of anyone to my knowledge in crowdfunding terms but probably should've done rather than getting unpaid people to do the coding… it's sketch af and probably won't ever be released now tbh.
I really enjoy most of your Kickstarter review videos including those critical of the campaign. If you just made funny/sarcastic comments it might be "punching down" in some cases, but you generally mention specifics as to why presentations are silly or underwhelming, and suggest alternative/more effective approaches. Also, I find your comments on warning signs of undeliverable and deceptive pitches to be very useful. Keep it up, and I hope your Asian trip meets all your hopes. 👍
Yeah, the survival game thing resonates with me hard. It is by far my favorite genre and I will play pretty much anything that gets made (even partially made) but still find myself just returning to old favorites when new entries disappoint. Heck, I still play 7 Days to Die in 2022 (great on Steam Deck, btw) and that was the first Kickstarter I ever backed. And nothing beats the feeling of The Forest IMHO. I'm really looking forward to the sequel finally dropping and I'm hoping it won't be a let-down. I have faith in that team and their amazing AI work, though.
I also see this same phenomenon with cozy farming games. I have friends who will jump on every new release, even if they'd probably just be better off playing Stardew Valley and modding it to make it fresh because a lot of the games that come out aren't even close to as good as Stardew still is. It seems both genres have that magic formula we want to see repeated, almost like trying to chase the dragon. We will try anything to get that feeling again.
Fightincowboy did a beta or w/e of mortalrite, the multiplayer was really buggy and wouldn't stay connected. But the game was super early beta so it's expected.
Yeah I can't record with people in the room, and I tell myself that that is totally the only reason I don't put up more content lol. But yeah, married with a kid now gives me like no time to feel comfortable to record anymore.
It feels so akwards that the guy at 2:30 is looking next to the camera during his entire speech. I mean, he is really trying to sound energetic and and connect with the viewer but the lack of 'eye contact' makes it feel like he is trying to pursuade the person next to me.
Loved hearing those stories of your family encountering people who watch your videos. Your family is no doubt proud of you! And you should be proud of yourself too!
21:16 – Silently optimistic for Rooted. It has all solo, co-op, and online features, so even if the game flops as an MMO, it should still be functional as an offline solo/co-op game. Somewhat like SCUM, which I also quite like.
To be honest, your small tangent at the start was quite entertaining and if all true – not that I'd have any doubt it would be true – that's quite a nice surprise, eh?😀 Just posting this that at least I absolutely don't mind such small excursions now and then. Make the whole thing way more entertaining and breaks up everything. This isn't a Nintendo Direct or whatever where people want to see game after game after game. At least as far as I'm concerned.👍
Oh, and adding this extra, because it's also quite a small tangent of its own your and because your story felt very relatable, although in a different way. I'm also the kind of guy rarely getting out etc. and working from home emphasizes this even more. So a couple years ago we finished a work project that involved a thick art book full of stories and texts, partially written by me. My dad isn't that much into computers and stuff, so working at home on my computer he always had that feeling like I'm not doing anything at all, only watching videos or playing games. But having this book in his hand, flipping through it, etc. you could really feel like he was both surprised, but also proud and certainly relieved. And I wouldn't be surprised if your dad felt rather similar, seeing that his son isn't just sitting at home doing nothing, but actually influencing people, helping them out, etc.
I am going to go ahead and say all your videos are 100% solid, even if I disagree with some things. I wouldn't adjust content based on a bit of trolling.
I want a game where the aggressively ambitious storyline is sabotaged by the neuroses of the primary character. Like the morning of the beginning of the campaign, our character never gets out of the house because he has to do his dishes three times in a row and compulsively checks his email every 45 seconds. By the afternoon, our character has begun cleaning his entire garage because he found a candy wrapper. Other members of the squad are calling, asking him where he is and why he missed a meetup.
12:15 Bro the music in this game is top-notch.👌 There are just some things that the Japanese do better than anyone. Samurai-swords, Sushi, Hentai and J-pop🤘
THE DUDE THAT MADE PERSONA'S MUSIC?????? Persona has some of the best music in all of gaming. Not sure what Guns Undarkness is going to be but I'll keep my eye on it.
OMG to think that Meguro-sensei is becoming an indie game developer is a very hot news to me! Like I've played SMT:DS/DS2 and Persona series for very long before getting into college phase and those games definitely aren't awesome if he's not the music artist/composer for them.

19.05.2023Shoji Meguro can turn repetitive, cryptic and punishing JRPGs into all time classics with just the sheer slapping power of his musics alone.
He is so powerful he can make grinding and getting roflpwned by unfair difficulty spikes fun experiences
